UAP Cultural Club & DSW Commemorate Language Martyrs with ‘Ekusher Projjolon’ Event


On the eve of International Mother Language Day, the University of Asia Pacific (UAP) was aglow with reverence and remembrance as the UAP Cultural Club and Directorate of Students' Welfare (DSW) jointly organized the poignant event titled "Ekusher Projjolon." held at the UAP Plaza on February 20, 2024, the program brought together students, faculty, and esteemed guests to commemorate the sacrifices of the language martyrs.

The event commenced with solemn speeches from key dignitaries, including the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qumrul Ahsan. The Vice-Chancellor announced plans for a monument of the Shahid Minar within the university premises, symbolizing the institution's reverence for the sacrifices made for language rights.

Members of the UAP Cultural Club meticulously crafted a floral representation of the number '21,' symbolizing the historic significance of February 21, 1952, in the struggle for linguistic rights. The delicate yet powerful display served as a poignant reminder of the courage and resilience of those who laid down their lives for the preservation of their mother tongue.
A stirring rendition of the iconic song "Amar Bhaier Rokte Rangano," was performed by the Performers of UAP Cultural Club. The haunting melody echoed through the plaza, resonating with the spirit of sacrifice and unity that defines the legacy of the language movement.

As dusk descended, the atmosphere shifted to one of quiet reflection as participants gathered for the candlelight vigil. Led by the Honorable Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qumrul Ahsan. Respected Treasurer, Prof. Dr. Sheikh Anwar Hossain, Director, DSW, Dr. A. S. M. Mohsin, Adviser, UAP Cultural Club, Ms. Layeqa Bashir, Facult members and students from different departments were also participated. This program, served as a poignant gesture of solidarity with the martyrs and their families. Each flickering flame illuminated the path towards a future where linguistic diversity is celebrated and cherished.
The UAP Cultural Club and DSW expressed their gratitude to all participants, guests, and volunteers for their unwavering support in making "Ekusher Projjolon" a truly memorable and impactful tribute to the heroes of the language movement.
