On September 24, 2024, the HR Excellence Club at the University of Asia Pacific (UAP) organized an insightful seminar titled "NextGen HR: Pioneering the Future of Human Resource" at the UAP Auditorium. Supported by the Daily Star as the official news partner, the seminar aimed to provide students with a deeper understanding of the evolving HR landscape, bridging the gap between academic knowledge and practical applications in modern organizations.
The event featured distinguished industry leaders from Anwar Group of Industries, including Mr. Shantanu Ray, Head of Group HR; Mr. Md. Raihan Uddin Evon, Senior Manager, HR & Head of HR at Anwar Technology; Mr. Md. Sazzad Hossain, Senior Manager, Group HR; Mr. Md. Saifur Rahman, Deputy Manager, Group HR; and Mr. Md. Ariful Islam, HR Business Partner.
The seminar began with an opening speech by Sarwar Razzaq Chowdhury, Head, Department of Business Administration, UAP, who emphasized the collaborative and human-centered nature of HR in today’s workplaces.
Following this, Farzana Elahi, Club Convener of the HR Excellence Club and Assistant Professor in the Department of Business Administration, expressed her gratitude to the distinguished guests and acknowledged the dedication and hard work of the club members in organizing the event. She underscored the significance of such seminars in preparing students for the evolving HR landscape.
Mr. Shantanu Ray, in his keynote address, shared valuable advice on career growth, emphasizing the importance of mentorship, staying grounded, and human empathy in HR. He likened HR’s role to that of a mother, nurturing the workforce while incorporating technological advancements like AI.
Mr. Md. Raihan Uddin Evon discussed the significance of "assessment centers" as key tools for evaluating potential hires and stressed the need for students to focus on technical skills, mindset, attitude, and long-term goals.
Attendees were able to interact with the speakers during an engaging Q&A session, deepening their understanding of the topics discussed. As a gesture of encouragement, Mr. Shantanu Ray also presented gifts to a few students who actively participated and engaged with him during the session, recognizing their enthusiasm and involvement.
The seminar concluded with a token of appreciation presented to Mr. Shantanu Ray by Md. Abul Mohaimen, Assistant Professor and Co-Convener of the HR Excellence Club. Flower bouquets were also presented to the other distinguished guests by Maisha Newar, Lecturer and Club Convener, and Md. Abul Mohaimen, acknowledging their participation and insights.
