Prof. Dr. Aloke Kumar Saha of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) has been appointed as the new Proctor of University of Asia Pacific (UAP).
He replaced Professor Dr. Mohammad Shahriar of the Department of Pharmacy on 08 August 2024.
Dr. Saha joined UAP in March 1999 as a Lecturer. Before, he was a Lecturer at Queens University from June 1997 to March 1999. He completed B.Sc. (Hons.) in Applied Physics & Electronics from the University of Dhaka in 1995. He received his M.Sc. (Thesis) in Computer Science from the University of Dhaka in 1997. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from Jahangirnagar University.
Dr. Saha has forty three (43) Journal papers and twenty five (25) Conference papers. He usually teaches courses on Digital Logic & System Design, Numerical Methods, Data Structures, Discrete Mathematics and Computer Graphics. His current research interests include Algorithms, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning and Natural Language Processing. For more than 27 (twenty-seven) years, he has been working with the undergraduate and master’s students as a supervisor or co-researcher of their project and thesis works.
Dr. Saha has worked as the head of the CSE department, UAP from 2008 to 2018. He also worked as the director of Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), UAP from 2021 to 2023. He was the Chair of the organizing committee of International Conference on Computer and Information Technology (ICCIT) 2017. He was the Contest Director of National Collegiate Programming Contest (NCPC) 2016. Under his leadership UAP hosted the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) 2016 and 2017. He is Chief of the Organizing Committee of International Journal of Computer and Information Technology (IJCIT), published by department of CSE, UAP. He is a reviewer of different conferences and journals.
